Out of Doors

backyard fun....

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and excitement as I move on to a new adventure.  I really appreciate the support!  We had a great time on Saturday night hanging out in the back yard.  We made s'mores, looked at magazines, did the crossword, talked, stared at the fire.  It really was exactly what I needed. Here are a few pictures of our fun.  The fire really got going in our little stove, as you can see in one of the below pictures.

The wheelbarrow in the picture is one that Steve repainted in a glossy red and then stained the wooden handles....so we could then throw dirt and weeds into it.  Once he sets his mind to something, it just has to be done.  I'll admit, it's sweet looking wheelbarrow - even with dirt and weeds :o)

The fire really gets going at times - it's mesmerizing.  Fortunately I don't feel compelled to touch it, that could be bad.  Mostly I just stare at it, eyes wide as saucers, mouth slightly gaping.  I don't know what it is about a fire that makes me just want to sit and look at it.

We have numerous rose bushes up on the hill that is above the stone retaining wall.  They have all started blooming and I think they are so pretty - just the perfect shade of pink.

Thanks again for all of the kind words - as always, you're such an inspiration.

a bit of the outdoors II...

Well, so far there has been no sitting outside reading, reading, reading, as was my intent, but, I did read while taking a lavender bubble bath today, which makes up for some of it.  And Steve and I made a fire last night in our outdoor stove and had S'mores - so very good.  It's been a bit cool and windy, but I did get out to take some pictures in front.  I also wanted to let you know that my friend Sophie (the one who sent me a wonderful care package from England) did start a blog a couple of days ago - yay Sophie!  She can be found here at Sophie Honeysuckle.

Steve and I sit here quite a lot, rocking, reading, having a hot or cold beverage (depending on the weather).  I really do enjoy it, and we wave and say hi to the passersby.

The jutting out thing is the umbrella of the table - couldn't be helped as Steve has strategically placed the table so that twinkle lights can go inside the umbrella, and power cord fits down in between patio stone slates and are hidden beneath dirt so that it appears to be a total mystery as to how the twinkle lights are powered.  Sneaky.  Anyway, that is why the umbrellas is where it is.  The little stone path you see leads up a hill into the bid of woods we have.  I like that it looks like it is going somewhere, but you're not quite sure where.

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

A bit o' the outdoors...

As promised are some pictures of outside our house in the snow (courtesy of Steve - he got sick of hearing me say (and blog) that I was going to go and and take some pictures...so nice husband did it for me).  He loves birds so you have to give him props on the really good rear bird shot - that's pretty much "cute" wrapped up in a bow for me.  Anyhoo, it doesn't seem like March here right now (well, March for Minnesota maybe, but not so much for most other places).

Birdie has to have a place to live...it's cold out there.  Have a great day.  See you tomorrow.  I had typed that I would be posting some pictures of our bedroom tomorrow, but that sounds weird, and like it might draw the wrong kind of crowd, if you know what I mean.  See, it's an all ages show here folks so I started to think maybe I would just post the pictures of the bedroom instead of advertising it, but then I felt I had to explain, even though I didn't.  So, um, right, pictures of bedroom...strictly the bedroom.  Slinking away awkwardly now...see you tomorrow.
