Some of you have probably seen another picture like this that I took a few months ago, but I thought I would take another as I was snapping photos around the room.
That wall across the room is screaming for a picture. It is so obviously bare, like a beacon flashing at me. Hey, how'd those clothes of Steve's get in the picture? Oh yeah, because I moved them from the spot they had been when I was trying to take an earlier picture - they're kind of like a fixture...piles of clothes (Steve's that is...see, I like to keep my piles of clothes discretely hidden from view in my closet with the door shut). It seems my strategic attempts at getting the clothes out of the way ultimately failed when I had moved them so many times that I ended up forgetting about them. That's what I get for trying to pretend that we don't have messes - hah!
Do you see that little matchbox on the left - with the drawing of a woman's face, and a little hat and veil? Isn't she cute - it's old, was my grandmother's. In the box with the lid and the open box with dividers, I have many handkerchiefs of my grandmother's and great grandmother's. I really enjoy the different patterns, colors, and embroidery. Can't even imagine blowing my nose on them...yuck...and then stuffing in my purse...double yuck...but perhaps a slight daubing of a glistening eye at a wedding - that wouldn't be as bad. The "Mother" pin was made by Evy for Mother's Day this year. To the left is my new Annick Goutal 'Le Chevrefeuille' perfume, which was recommended to me by Sophie. I REALLY like it and reminds me a bit of my Kate Spade perfume that I love so much.
Why hello there kitty, aren't you cute perched atop my chair. He's only slightly amused by me. His name is K.C. There's that naked wall again - staring at me. I guess it wouldn't be as fun if every single wall and space was crammed full - at least this way I have a specific space in mind when I'm antiquing - it's more than justifiable if there is a space waiting to be filled - am I right...AM I RIGHT PEOPLE!? So we're all on the same page with that I see - wink wink ;o)
Your cat looks exactly like our late Mr. Sassafrass....also known as Sassy. Awwww...he even has that same indifferent "your lucky to have me" look to him.

Hi Allison-just love looking at these photos again! It will be fun to look for a picture for your wall next time you go antiquing!! The pin that Evy made is lovely! Even more special that she made it. Your comments on my blog always make me laugh, especially about Tom and Steve on a 'working' holiday in MN. Can you imagine!! They would be working, and we would be antiquing somewhere!!! We can dream about that...
P.S. that pile of clothes you have to keep moving for the photos must be Tom's escaped pile from our bedroom, complete with odd socks!!!

I didn't know that you have an orange kitty...so do we...Dexter. I will have to feature him in an upcoming post. By the way, I'm so glad that I'm not the only one whose husband leaves his clothing in piles around the room!

I love the black and white toile duvet and shams in your room- is your bed a king size? We bought our new bed (posted to my blog yesterday, too!) in a king in January, and my one disappointment is that there isn't a larger size to buy bedding in! I always bought my duvets and comforters the next size up so my hubby and I could snuggle down in the blankets. Now we each have our share, but none to spare. Boo!
How smart of you to keep a tumble up beside the bed for when you are thirty! I have a crystal one, too- I should put it beside my bed!

Did you buy your lovely chair to match your cat, or your cat to match your chair? What a beautiful color combination. jerripinkpassion.blogspot.com

Hi Allison,
If you think that wall is bare - don't come to my bedroom! I haven't done much of anything with it yet. I keep working on the "main" parts of the house that others see but I need to remember that a bedroom is just as important! Yours is beautiful. Even with the piles of clothes (oh yeah, definitely have those as well - and a husband that doesn't believe in closing a drawer after opening it!). I love the chair and table - such a magazine perfect display!

You have a beautiful bedroom. It's very calm and classy. I'm sure we'll get to our bedroom last, but I would love it to feel as nice as yours.

Gorgeous home!
The bedroom is so pretty and I love the Fortuny-esque pillow on the chair!
Oh, and the kitchen! A dream of mine is to have a marble topped island. (I'd even settle for a kitchen large enough to HAVE an island. LOL

Hi Allison-it's Friday, hurrah! Thanks for wishing us Happy Anniversary! And how funny that yours is August 1st!!! The little cannister is an oversized china mug with different baking measures and conversions on it! It says how many quarters in a pint ect!!

I just know that the naked wall won't be empty for long..

So classic, so inviting, so cozy. You have a wonderful eye. The designers all say that you need a bare wall here and there to allow the eye to rest! Of course, I hate bare walls too! I guess our eyes just do not need as much rest as those designer's eyes do! *laugh*
Love your spaces...and your cat! We have two but they never pose that sweetly for me!
Hugs,
Sue

I love your bedroom...your color scheme and furnishings are just right. Personally, I think that the clothes keep it "real"...I find myself "staging" for pictures sometime, too, and I think people really enjoy seeing the real deal (since they live the real deal, too :)
I enjoy how so many of your treasures have a history and meaning to you. That makes them true treasures. And you are right, right, right that the perfect item for your wall will find you. That's the most fun part of decorating.
Cute kitty, too!

Your bedroom is so well thought out and organized. it looks so comfortable. And has your personality. Your cat looks very happy.
The colors are perfect!
And thank-you for the tour of your personal memento's.

Loved seeing your bedroom again....even with hubby's clothes. It's so pretty. I was taking pictures of my desk today when my husband came home and asked what some of my papers and the glass cleaner bottle were doing on HIS desk. Why I'm taking pictures of MY side right now. He's getting used to my staging for pics. LOL
