Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I'm very ready - I love Thanksgiving, I love the food, the decorations, time with family, and taking an opportunity to be thankful and aware of life's many blessings and opportunities. Every year and every holiday is a stepping stone in life's pathway of memories - a table full of family and friends passing delicious food from hand to hand, kids' tables, naps on the couch with football on the T.V. in the background, leftovers. This is our dining room, which will not be seeing any Thanksgiving action this year. We usually go to Steve's brother and sister-in-law's home. She makes an amazing meal and makes it look so simple. She's always so cool and calm - I'd be a mess, figuratively and literally I'm afraid.
My little hen that I got last fall for a song.
This is a picture of the harvest table we prepared at church yesterday. I'm part of the Alter Guild and one of the things we take care of is decorating for the holidays. I'm sure you can imagine how much I love to do that. I thought it turned out really well. It was fun to view the end result while attending church today.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration. Next up...Christmas (I recently acquired a couple of 20" silver glitter trees and a "Greetings" garland with glitter letters from Bayberry Cove. I sure do love holidays :o)
I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family! I am not cooking this year, we are traveling to my husband's sister's home. I am bringing two salads, appetizers and rolls. I love the smell of turkey cooking in my home, so I will be making a turkey in the next couple of weeks.
Have a wonderful time! Sharon

Here's to a Happy Thanksgiving! My dining room is still a disaster, AND I'm hosting this year! But hopefully the living room will be done by Christmas.

I am hosting 14, but it is always casual at our house. Plus I just noticed one of my kitchen cabinets is coming apart(the one with all the glassware and bowls etc) and I have to figure out where to put all the stuff until I can get it fixed...eeeek.
Hope you and your family have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

I am really looking forward to the holiday, too. I have been so busy wrapping gifts for Christmas, I haven't done any T. decorating...I usually just have a centerpiece and that is all.
My turkey is thawing in the fridge, the pie crusts are made...I will straighten up our country dining room and sit places for 17 people....

Allie, unfortunately, I think Thanksgiving has become the "forgotten" holiday!! Seems like everyone goes right from Halloween to Christmas. . .skipping. . . Thanksgiving along the way. I felt guilty myself yesterday when I took down my Thanksgiving decor to put up the Christmas decorations. But we go away for Thanksgiving and when we come back, it's nice to have the decorating behind me.
Blessings,
Sher

Your house is beautiful and your decorations impeccable. I love Thanksgiving. It's really the least commercial of all holidays. Of course, it's no Christmas...but it's a close second.
And I love your hen!
Love,
Julie

I love that you have your dining table at a diagonal. I'm looking for ways to keep my little colonial from looking too boxy and boring. Could you show us a picture of the entire dining room? I would love to see the layout. Thanks!
